The Journey of Fique
For generations, fique has been woven into the artisanal history of Colombia. Derived from the leaves of the Furcraea plant native to the Andean region, the natural fiber is valued for its durability, texture, and organic character.
At Hunting Season, materials are approached not only for their beauty, but for the craftsmanship and heritage they carry. Fique reflects a slower, more intentional approach to design — one rooted in handwork, preservation, and timelessness.

WHAT IS FIQUE?
Fique is a natural Colombian fiber traditionally used in weaving and textile craftsmanship. Once harvested, the fibers are extracted from the leaves, washed, dried under the sun, and prepared by hand before weaving begins.
Its structured texture and subtle irregularities give each woven piece a distinct character that cannot be replicated through industrial production.

CRAFTSMANSHIP AND PROCESS
The transformation from raw plant to finished object requires patience and precision. Artisans work carefully with the fibers to create woven surfaces rich in texture and dimension, preserving techniques passed down through generations.
Because each panel is woven by hand, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Variations in weave and tone become part of the object’s identity.

NATURAL MATERIALS, TIMELESS DESIGN
As conversations around sustainability continue to evolve within the industry, natural fibers such as fique offer an alternative to synthetic production. Renewable and biodegradable, the material aligns with a slower philosophy of craftsmanship centered on longevity rather than disposability.
The resulting pieces feel grounded yet refined — shaped by nature, transformed by hand, and designed to endure.
